Meet Abbay.
For me, a bucket-list trip to Europe with girlfriends inspired me to apply for an international placement opportunity through my global accounting firm. Originally from Alabama, little did I know that my short-term placement in Auckland, New Zealand would forever change the course of my life and turn into something more permanent, a new home, and a place where I would launch a career as a travel advisor.
In 2018, my wanderlust had gotten the best of me, and my fiancé and I decided to take a break from our corporate jobs to see the world. I left New Zealand with no return date or ticket - but with a heavy bag and a massive smile. Nine months later, I had circumnavigated the globe and ended my trip where it had started - in New Zealand. I came back not only with great travel stories but also with a passion to help others create memorable travel experiences. At the end of 2019, I launched Abbay’s Escapes to help others experience the transformative power of travel.
Before becoming a travel advisor, I spent over six years as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and trusted business advisor to clients across the globe. My favorite and most rewarding part of my career as a CPA was serving my clients. My experience providing first-class client service coupled with my enthusiasm for travel, ensures that you receive the highest level of service and care from your very first consultation, during your travels, and even once you've returned home.
My travel experiences vary widely,
from stays at luxury boutique hotels to glamping on a private island in the Philippines, rugged multi-day hikes throughout New Zealand, a rural homestay in Vietnam, an Australian road trip by campervan, and a surf and yoga camp in the Sri Lankan jungle. Some of my favorite experiences include hiking the scenic Alta Via 1 Travel in the Italian Dolomites and spending several weeks as a local near my fiancé’s former home, the countryside in the south of England.
